Community Clean-Up Today, Saturday, May 11th in Rangeley!

Today is community clean-up day in Rangeley from 10 AM until 12 Noon. Participants can meet at the Post Office to get trash bags and route assignments. Pizza and drinks fwill be served for participants at the Town Park at noon. Prizes will be awarded for ‘Most Unique Piece of Trash’ in addition to grab bag prizes. Game warden Reggie Hammond has reported that the ice was declared out on Rangeley Lake at 7:00 p.m. on the night of May 2, 2013.

Therapeutic Benefits of Exercise Seminar on April 11th in Rangeley

RANGELEY — On April 11th at 5:00p.m. the Rangeley Fitness Center will be hosting a free one hour presentation on the therapeutic benefits of exercise at the Church of the Good Shepherd in the Undercroft. The presenters will be Liza Rogers MPT, ATC, the Physical Therapy Site Coordinator at the Rangeley Rehabilitation Center for Franklin memorial Hospital and Jeff Hawksley CPT, PES, CES, ther Director of the Rangeley Fitness Center will be discussing the benefits of appropriate levels of excercise for arthritis, osteoporosis, back pain, balance impairment and difficulty walking.

Liza Rogers will discuss the medical reasons why exercise has been shown to have positive effects on a variety of conditions that often limit exercise due to pain and/or dysfunction.

Jeff Hawksley will present a variety of exercises with varying intensities and loads designed to potentially decrease pain and improve strength, balance, flexibility and mobility.

For many forms of physical impairment exercise can be the very best medicine!

All are invited to an informal yet informative presentation that could make a great difference in the well being of many people fighting musculoskeletal pain.

April State of Maine Quilter’s Shop Hop to visit Rangeley

The Maine Quilt Shop Hop is an annual event in the State of Maine. Participating Independent Quilt Shops invite “Shop Hoppers” to pick up a passport at any of the stores to start the hop, then visit as many stores as you can between April 1st and April 30. You have your Passport stamped at each shop you visit. It’s a great way to see beautiful Maine during glorious springtime, and have a chance at winning some of the up to $15,000.00 in prizes! Bring the family, bring your friends.

Over the years the Shop Hop has grown, and each year Threads Galore Quilt Shop in Rangeley sees more and more people, not only from Maine but from states throughout our great country. It’s a really fun event!

Threads Galore Quilt Shop brought over 250 quilters to Rangeley last April. Many had never been to the Rangeley Lakes Region before! More are expected this year as Northwoods Quilting in Wilson’s Mills is now a participant in the event.
