Local towns plan Independence Day events

Towns and cities across the country will celebrate Independence Day next week with parades, festivals and fireworks. Franklin County is no different, with events taking place in several towns. RANGELEY The Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce will be holding its fifth annual July 3 in the Park event next Wednesday.

In the MSAD 58 towns Avon, Kingfield, Phillips and Strong, the majority of the voters cast ballots in favor of a $9.74 million budget for K-12 education. 5K fundraiser and book talk for Phillips Public Library

PHILLIPS – The Phillips Public Library will be hosting a 5k fundraiser on Saturday, June 1. Registration fee is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Money will go to the library’s operating fund. Registration begins at 9 a.m., walkers begin at 9:45 a.m. and the race begins at 10 a.m.

PHILLIPS  – The Maine School Administrative District 58 school board unanimously approved sending a $9.76 million budget to district voters Thursday evening, with a district-wide meeting scheduled for May 28.
