PHILLIPS – John “Duna” Raymond Toothaker Jr., 82, passed away in his home on Monday, July 26, 2021. He was born on May 26, 1939, in Madrid, to parents John, Sr. and Elvie (Dunham) Toothaker. He was the third eldest son of 12, including; June, Bub, Leland, Kendall, Bobby, Bruce, Popeye, Peanut and Baby Girl, all of whom have predeceased him; and his surviving sisters, Polly and Cheryl. At the tender age of 13, Duna was obligated to pause his education and start working.
KINGFIELD – Kaye (Heath) Newell, age 62, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. She was born August 15, 1959 a daughter of Charles and Marjory Adele (Buck) Heath and grew up in her hometown of Phillips to two great and loving parents. During her school years at Mt. Abram Highschool she would meet her future husband and partner-in-crime Walter Newell and move to Kingfield

WEST FREEMAN – Barbara N. Allen, formerly Barbara N Brackett, passed on October 3, 2020 at Copper Ridge Retirement home in Sykesville, Maryland. Barb was born February 25, 1927 in West Freeman, ME to the late Emily (Webster) Neil and Theodore Neil. She was predeceased by her first husband of 36 years, Philip Brackett of Rangeley, ME and George Allen of North Port, Florida (9 months). Barbara spent her childhood on the Neil farm in West Freeman
STRONG – Lorraine A. Wallace “Mother”, 82, passed away unexpectedly on June 26, 2021 at her residence in Strong, with her loving son Mark by her side. She was born on April 22, 1939 in Avon, daughter of Durward and Ruth (Grover) Hinckley and graduated from Phillips High School. Mother worked hard all of her life at Bass Shoe and Forster’s, until her retirement to take care of her husband Linwood. Her best years were living on the farm in Madrid tending her garden and flowers
RANGELEY – Vernon Glen Bean, 91, passed away on May 16, 2021 at the VA Hospital in Togus. He was born on Dec. 17, 1929, in Industry, son of Olon and Beulah (Ellis) Bean. He graduated from Flagstaff High School in the class of 1947. Vern proudly served his country in the U.S Army, during the Korean Conflict
PHILLIPS — Marie Janice Campbell, 85, passed away on March 16, 2021 at the home of her son Ruben, where she had resided since January. She was born on Feb. 29, 1936 in Rangeley, daughter of Paul and Charlotte (Lamb) Pillsbury.
AVON – Dawn Violetta White Adams, 81, of Avon, passed away on October 22, 2020 at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center in Farmington, with her family by her side. She had resided at Edgewood for the past two years. Dawn was born on January 15, 1936, in Strong, the daughter of Burnham White and Olena Stevens. She was educated in the schools of Phillips. Dawn worked at Farmington Shoe Shop and did housekeeping at Sugarloaf Mountain.
RANGELEY – Barbara Spiller Lowell, 74, of Allen Street, Rangeley, died unexpectedly, Sunday afternoon, Feb. 14, 2021 at her home. She was born Dec. 3, 1946, in Woonsocket, RI, a daughter of Harold Hubert “Hack” and Gertrude (Shea) Spiller and made her home in Rangeley since 1955
FARMINGTON – Michaela Marie Morgan, “Mickey” 15, of Phillips, died Monday evening, Feb. 1, 2021, shortly after arrival at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Sandy River Plantation. She was born in Lewiston on Aug. 5, 2005, as a preemie, a daughter of Michael David and Tanya (Marie) Brewer Morgan.
