PHILLIPS — Driving into town, just past the fire station, a flash of red caught my eye. NEW VINEYARD – Leora M. Churchill passed away on December 18, 2021, at the age of 82. She was born on July 25, 1939 in East Madrid, Maine, to Victor and Shirley McLaughlin. Leora attended schools in Phillips and graduated from Phillips High School in June of 1958.

CHESTERVILLE – Cecil Kendall, 91, of Chesterville, passed peacefully at his home on December 11, 2021. He was born in Farmington on December 18, 1929. Cecil grew up in West Farmington and attended Farmington schools and UMF. On May 25, 1950, he married his beloved wife Ann. Together they raised 6 children while living in Starks and Farmington.
WILTON – Reta Elizabeth Whinery, 92, of Wilton, died on Friday afternoon, Dec. 10, 2021 at her home. She was born in Abbot, May 25, 1929, a daughter of Ruel (Baxter) and Hazel Mae (Mayo) Orff, Sr., and graduated from Wilton Academy in 1947. She raised her family in Wilton and Hampden, and when her children were older, attended Husson College for a year and went to work for Bell Telephone in Bangor for 21 years, retiring in 1985 and relocating back to Wilton shortly thereafter
RANGELEY – Rangeley’s favorite musical event returns to the stage in February! The Rangeley Friends of the Arts will produce a live musical event, “Classic DIVA” in February. The performance will include songs and singers, both men and women, from the 40’s, 50’s and early 60’s.
Due to weather conditions and poor roads, the following closures and delays have been announced for Monday, Dec. 6. MSAD 58 will be closed for the day. RSU 73 will have a one hour delay, morning pre-k is canceled. Rangeley Lakes Regional School will have a two hour delay.
PHILLIPS – Rosalee Coolidge Bubier, 75, of Phillips, passed away on Nov. 21, 2021, at Sandy River Center in Farmington. She was born on Feb.
STRONG – A search warrant led to the arrests of two women at a residence on the Farmington Road yesterday according to a press release from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. The arrests were the culmination of a nearly month-long investigation beginning in Rangeley at the scene of a drug overdose. Sgt. Ryan Close, Deputy AJ Elmes and Lt. David St
