I am a Master Maine Guide-Fishing. I have been guiding since 2001, and fly fishing since 1958. If there’s a better way to spend time in the outdoors, I haven’t discovered it yet.
Join me for some of the best fly fishing in North America. The storied Rangeley / Kennebago Lakes region has abundant brook trout and land locked salmon just waiting for the right presentation of a fly. Try your luck on the ten miles of the Kennebago River, or go for the big fish in Little Kennebago Lake or Big Kennebago Lake.
If you’re interested, we can also fish Mooselookmeguntic Lake, Upper Richardson Lake, and the fabled Upper Dam, where Carrie Stevens created her world famous streamer flies such as the Gray Ghost.
I can arrange single, or multiple day fly fishing trips. If you’re new to the sport I’ll give you some introductory fly casting instruction and get you on the water in about an hour! Cast your line from my classic 20′ wood and canvass Moosehead Laker canoe (the Field of Streams) and you’ll have an experience you won’t soon forget.
Fly rods and a limited selection of flies are available at no extra charge. These are some of the flies which have been productive for me over the years:
•Dry flies…Mr. Rapidan, Dark Hendrickson, Royal Wullf, Royal Coachman, Blue Wing Olive, Stimulator/red, orange, green, Griffith’s Gnat, and Renegade (size 12-16)
•Wet flies….Hornberg (size 8-12)
•Streamers……Black Ghost, Gray Ghost (size 6-12)
•Nymphs…..Copper John, Brassie, Hare’s Ear Nymph (size 16-18)
Lunch is provided with eight hour bookings and a snack is included with four hour sessions.
Photography, fall foliage, bird watching and wildlife viewing tours.
If photography, bird watching, viewing wildlife or spectacular fall foliage is your objective, we can tour Big Kennebago Lake, the Logans, and the Upper Kennebago River in search of colorful sunrises and sunsets, moose, loons, mergansers, and other local wildlife. Guests have also seen herons, wood ducks, otters, and mink on the tours.
Late September and early October consistently produce crisp vistas of the surrounding mountains clothed in their spectacular fall foliage. My canoe can accommodate two guests and their equipment. Each of these photo, foliage, or wildlife viewing trips can be tailored to your objectives. Some people enjoy spending a few hours on the water and then touring remote wilderness locations in the comfort of my Jeep. Plan on a full day….you’ll be glad you did!
