After the Civil War and with the start of the Industrial Revolution, came some leisure time. The popularity of hunting and fishing increased and Maine's gunsmiths who produced arms for necessities tuned to making sporting guns and improving or inventing fishing tackle. This exhibit has 19th century firearms and fishing tackle from Hiram Leonard, Farmington's own Charles Wheeler and others. Display at Outdoor Sporting Heritage Museum in Oquossoc.

New “Historic Rapid River Region” Exhibit opens at The Outdoor Heritage Museum A new exhibit featuring some of the mystique and lure of this legendary part of the Rangeley Region. The display includes vintage film of the first ever U.S. Whitewater Championships held in 1940, a canvas kayak once owned by Herb Welch, mounts, the dam gate from Old Lower Dam, artifacts from the Forest Lodge the home of national best-selling author Louise Dickinson Rich, fish mounts and more.

The Rangeley Region Guides’ and Sportsmen’s Association will be hosting its 8th Annual Turkey Shoot at the Association’s rifle and pistol range on Sunday, October 2, 2016. The HELP Adult Respite Care Program (HARC) program provides needed aid for caregivers by creating a safe place where cognitively challenged seniors can participate in activities designed specifically to enrich their daily lives. We provide a supportive day program focusing on participant’s capabilities, experience, interests and personalities so that his/her potential is maximized.
